Experimenting with shredded money again. Thinking about what nourishes and drains us - we nourish our children and give them everything even when this also financially drains us. Single mothers are stigmatised and seen as draining the state - benefit scroungers etc yet the absent fathers are never held accountable. The church (holy father) used to dictate our relationships and families; couples would marry and stay married, the fathers would provide (financially) for the mothers, there were very separate gender roles. Once the dissolution of the church happened, the fathers left and the mothers financial provision was replaced by the state...? We are left with single mothers living in poverty, absent fathers who take no responsibility for their families and a state/benefit system that is failing under the pressure.
